Hanover has taken a step towards trying to prevent vandalism in their downtown.
Within weeks, four surveillance cameras will be set up at Heritage Park.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says they got tired of spending money and effort cleaning up acts of vandalism including graffiti.
She’s hoping this will put an end to it.
Maskell says she hasn’t had any calls from residents with privacy issues but says there are guidelines for use of the cameras.
She says only police have access to the tape and only when there’s an incident to investigate.
Maskell says the four cameras are very high tech and will run the town several thousand dollars although she couldn’t say exactly how much until they’re installed.
She says if the town requires more surveillance cameras down the road… council will have no hesitation in making that happen.
