Kincardine councillor Mike Leggett happened to be by the arena in Tiverton recently and saw a sports field being built.
Fine and good, except Council had not approved a sports field being built just to the south of the arena.
But the heavy equipment was on site and a field was being levelled off.
The town checked into the mystery field and it appears the Barbarian Rugby Club got a little too enthusiastic about building a home field for their games.
Kincardine CAO John deRosenroll says last summer the recreation department agreed in principle with such a playing field but that’s as far as it went.
There was never any formal approval from council.
DeRosenroll says the work had to come to a halt and in the weeks ahead the proposed project will play catch-up with the necessary paperwork in order for the work to continue.
The Barbarian rugby club is covering all costs.
