Grey County has delayed the long awaited right hand turn lane at the 7th Avenue and 10th Street intersection.
The County has decided to put the project off until the next budget year because of the higher cost of the project and it’s complexity.
Hanover’s Chief Building Official Don Tedford says the County has agreed to add further improvements to the busy intersection that will continue next spring.
Now the project will also include realigning all four corners of the intersection, road widening, new traffic lights, a new conduit as well as audible traffic signals for the visually impaired.
Hanover has invested 90 thousand dollars into the project, the County’s share sits at about 255 thousand dollars.
Grey County’s portion has almost doubled from original estimates because of the extra costs associated with the project.
The new right hand turn lane will be in place in time to handle the heavy summer traffic that utilize the busy intersection.
