As the Salvation Army wraps up its Kettle campaign today — volunteers are also preparing for their Christmas meal.
The Salvation Army is offering a Christmas day meal for the less fortunate at 1 PM on Saturday at its Church on 14th Street West in Owen Sound.
Spokesperson Alice Wannan says they have eliminated the ticket so those who would like a meal can simply walk into the Church.
Wannan says they are cooking 29 turkeys and serving vegetables, potatoes, dressings and buns and other festival treats.
She hopes it’s enough food to feed 200 people.
Wannan adds the entertainment for the day includes musical performances by Brian Moniz before dinner — and prizes will be handed out through out the day.
Volunteers will also have kettles at five different locations in Owen Sound until 1 PM Friday.
The Sally Ann says it’s getting close to its goal of 67 thousand dollars.
As of Friday morning — the Salvation Army says it was only 19 hundred dollars shy of thei goal.
