Work on Hanover’s outdoor ice rink begins today.
Flooding begins today on the 80 by 100 foot rink located in the Kinsmen Ball Park.
Councillor Rick Hopkins says this is a shared venture between the Kinsmen Club, the Fire Department and of course the most important partner of all, Mother Nature.
Hopkins hopes it will be ready by Christmas.
In an attempt to appease everyone, the ice rink will be used for hockey on odd days and skating on even days.
Hopkins encourages users to take ownership of the rink and help keep it clean.
This means shovelling it off after any major snow falls.
The town will also provide lighting so people can skate in the evening.
There is no cost to use the outdoor ice rink.
The Stanley Cup is also coming to Hanover, it will be at the new P & H Centre from 10 AM to 12 PM tomorrow.
The Stanley Cup will also be at tonight’s Owen Sound Attack OHL game.
