The Southampton Town Hall may be in for an extreme makeover in the years ahead.
Saugeen Shores Community Services Director Mike Myatt notes the building is celebrating its 100th anniversary next year.
Myatt says they’d like to have a building assessment done since very little work has been done on the facility for the past 20 to 30 years.
He says they want to take a look at the roof, floors, plumbing and heating to make sure everything’s okay.
Any possible renovations will be paid for through grants and/or public fundraising.
As a result of the long term plans, the Southampton Arts Society and the Lighthouse Photo Gallery have signed two year leases as opposed to the normal 5 year deals.
Myatt says it makes sense since they don’t want to try to break any leases down the road in order to do any work that might be needed.
