It will be an even merrier Christmas for diabetic children in Huron and Bruce Counties.
The proceeds from this past summer’s Dash for Diabetes fundraisers in Goderich and Kincardine are ready to be distributed.
Goderich event organizer Frank Gardiner says most of the money has gone to diabetes research.
He tells us the Robarts Research Centre at London’s University of Western Ontario receives 85 per-cent of the proceeds with the rest being held in a special account at the Goderich RBC Branch.
Gardiner says children with diabetes can be on their way to picking up their share of the funds raised through a special phone call.
He says you can register with Phil Paquette of Dundee Wealth on Hamilton Street.
Gardiner advises you to register quickly at 519 524-6030 because the cheques are ready and they want to get them out before Christmas.
All you have to do is prove you suffer from diabetes and you’ll have a Christmas cheque waiting for you.
Gardiner says if you were involved in the Dash for Diabetes you get 50-dollars and if not you still get 25.
The five-mile walk, run or jog was held in Goderich last July and the Kincardine event was held on the Labour Day weekend.
The Goderich event is named after Auden Byle, a young diabetic from Tiverton, who raised more than 100-thousand dollars in a cross-Canada run for diabetes research 12 years ago.
