King’s Buffet restaurant in Owen Sound is open again after a health scare last week.
Angela Newman, Program Manager of Food Safety with the Grey Bruce Health Unit confirms the restaurant was shut down last Wednesday for unsafe food practices.
She says a customer had called in a complaint to the Health Unit on Tuesday, and after a compliance inspection, critical violations were found in terms of temperature control and other food handling issues.
Newman says the restaurant was given time to correct the errors, but when investigators returned Wednesday morning, the issues hadn’t been resolved, and the restaurant was forced to close for 24 hours.
But Newman says the restaurant was re-opened Thursday to normal service after all of the critical infractions were corrected.
She adds the Health Unit will do follow-up checks to ensure the issues do not resurface.
Staff are also being retrained in safe food practices.
