The Saugeen Shores Sustainability Volunteer and Resource Centre is looking for your feedback about the future of volunteerism in the community.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation has granted the organization 16 thousand dollars to conduct a feasibility study.
President Victoria Serda says the consulting firm SMART Project Management has been hired to develop a Needs Analysis Study.
She says two areas will be looked at.
They’ll first determine if there is a need for volunteer support and sustainability projects in the community.
The second part of the study will look at the best financial models to implement.
Serda says we need better support for volunteers to help them connect to available opportunities in Saugeen Shores — and in turn that will help support local organizations.
Serda stresses the importance of getting public input because it’s a study based on community needs.
She says questionnaires are now available online or at the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce, the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre and various local businesses.
Additionally, Serda says they’ll host a few forums beginning in January and do some in-depth interviews with key community leaders that are responsible for a lot of volunteer work.
