A detailed survey of businesses in Owen Sound is set to get underway.
The Business Enterprise Centre, the Chamber of Commerce, the city of Owen Sound and OMAFRA have joined forces for the survey, called the “Business Retention and Expansion program.”
It’s a rural survey that has been around for several years and is sponsored by OMAFRA.
Owen Sound Business Enterprise Centre Manager Jane Phillips says the random survey will be done by a volunteer task force over the next few months.
Phillips says whenever red flags come up, the task force will inform the group that is affected whether it is city council, the Owen Sound Chamber, the D.I.A or whatever.
Phillips says questions were finalized at a meeting Wednesday night and the random selection process was outlined to the task force members.
This is the first time this type of survey has been done in Owen Sound.
A public presentation of all the information will also be set up for next year, but Phillips says they won’t wait for that meeting to address the issues found in the survey of downtown businesses.
