The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board has finished the fiscal year with a 300 thousand dollar surplus.
Auditor Dennis Kraemer says this was not an easy feat considering the fact the Board spent over 9 million dollars in the last two years on large capital projects.
Kraemer commends the Board for ending the year in the black.
He credits the Board’s strong fiscal position to forward thinking and good management.
Overall — the Catholic Board has 35 million dollars in capital assets, 14 million dollars in financial assets and 11.5 million dollars in liabilities.
Something new on the horizon, the Catholic Board is implementing an internal audit department.
Kraemer says this will add controls and strengthen an already functioning management system.
The Board is interviewing members of the community to sit on this audit committee.
