Ontario’s Green Party Leader stopped in the area to talk energy.
As for their energy plan? Mike Schreiner says their top priority is investing in energy efficiency and conservation.
Schreiner says their party is coming out with a proposal around a community based plan that speaks to local ownership of energy projects.
He says their entire election platform will be out in the spring.
As for the Liberals newly announced plan to spend an estimated 12 billion dollars refurbishing the remaining six units at Bruce Power, Schreiner says his party would not invest in new nuclear generation.
He says no nuclear project has ever come in on budget and on time.
Schreiner add’s it’s not the type of technology our province should be investing in.
Schreiner met Tuesday with a few residents in Balaclava — just outside Owen Sound — to speak about green energy and the wind farm issue residents there are currently in the midst of.
