The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reporting a successful round of flu clinics in the region — though numbers are not quite as high as they were two years ago.
More than four thousand people attended the 14 community flu clinics hosted by the Health Unit over the past month.
However back in 2008, a total of over 74 hundred people attended 15 flu clinics held across Grey Bruce.
The Health Unit continues to stress the importance of getting vaccinated – especially for children.
Public Health points to a 42 percent reduction in flu symptoms in household where just the children were immunized – while immunizing the whole family can reduce illness by up to 80 percent.
Free flu shots are still available by appointment from the Grey Bruce Health Unit in Owen Sound, the Plex in Port Elgin, and Public Health in Walkerton.
