The Brockton and Area Doctor Recruitment Committee is hoping Bruce Power will come to its financial aid.
Recently Bruce Power donated 135 thousand dollars each to the municipalities of Kincardine and Saugeen Shores towards doctor recruitment.
Officials in Brockton, South Bruce and Arran-Elderslie hope Bruce Power will extend this same generosity to the Brockton and Area Recruitment efforts.
The three municipalities have made a joint request in the form of a letter to Bruce Power for some financial assistance.
Outgoing Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato doesn’t expect the donation to be anything near as generous.
But he notes any amount would be appreciated.
Despite the arrival of three new doctors — Bagnato says there is still a doctor shortage.
He notes they are also still competing with larger centers to attract new physicians.
Bagnato also calls Bruce Power’s 270 thousand dollar donation to Kincardine and Saugeen Shores good for the entire region.
He says when neighbouring municipalities are able to attract doctors, the entire County benefits.
