The clock is ticking for nominations for the 2010 Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence and for Excellence in Early Childhood Education.
Federal Industry Minister Tony Clement says the awards are designed to recognize the contributions teachers make to our future.
Specifically, Clement says the Government wants to recognize those teachers who demonstrate innovation in the classroom especially on a technical level.
Clement says it is extremely important that kids understand current information and technology and how to use it to their benefit.
He adds teachers are often the first ones to expose young students to the information and technology age.
Clement goes on to say since information and communication technology is essential to success in today’s society – it is more important now than ever to properly prepare students.
Nominations for the 2010 Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence must be received by Tuesday November 30th.
