There may still be a chance for new kitchen equipment at the Wiarton Arena.
The arena is currently going through major renovations, but during budget deliberations, it was decided the cost of getting kitchen upgrades was too much at the time.
However, the Assistant Manager of Public Works for the Town of South Bruce Peninsula says they have a shot at getting up to 25 thousand dollars from the Aviva Community Fund.
Christine Beard-Laaber says the project idea has made it through the third round of voting, and has been steadily gaining more votes each round.
She’s hoping they can put in commercial equipment, like ovens and dishwashers, to replace the residential equipment they currently have.
Beard-Laaber says it will make the arena more convenient for large functions, such as weddings, that want to do the cooking at the arena instead of bringing in caterers.
She says it would make it easier to accomodate larger crowds.
The semi-final round of voting begins on December 2nd.
