Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell says the campaign for re-election has been on since the day the last election ended.
She’s responding to comments made by Energy Minister Dwight Duncan earlier this week.
While defending his 20-year, 87 billion dollar energy plan from opposition attacks, Duncan stated, “it’s the beginning of an election, and it’s about time the Opposition said where they stand.”
Mitchell backs that statement saying the party is always aware of the fixed date for the next election, and always keep in mind what they’re working towards.
She adds, at the end of the day, it’s about making sure Ontario remains strong.
Since announcing the energy plan, the hydro rate hikes, and then back-tracking by offering a rebate on monthly hydro bills, the Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats have been hurling accusations that the Liberals are trying to sway the voters before October’s election.
Mitchell says all the Liberals are asking is for the opposition parties to come forth with their plans.
She says it’s easy to attack, but difficult to come forward with a plan for such a complex energy system.
Mitchell says you can’t leave a system for decades without expecting that investments have to be made.
