Re-thermalized meals were on the menu again as the South Bruce Grey Health Centre continued their community tour in Durham on Thursday.
SBGHC CEO Paul Davies says they’ve made a change in the way they are preparing re-thermalized meals.
As you may remember, the switch to a more economical way of preparing food caused quite a fuss among some residents earlier this month.
Davies says instead putting food in the microwave, they now have a type of conventional oven that’s programmed to ensure nobody receives cold turkey.
He admits there were complaints about the food’s temperature during the first two weeks.
Because of a 50 per cent drop in occupancies at their four hospitals over the last ten years, Davies says they had to change their food preparation and delivery system.
He put it this way, figuring in staff wages for two employees, it could cost 100 dollars to serve one person breakfast, lunch and supper.
Davies was speaking to just a dozen or so residents in Durham for the 3rd stop of a 8 stop public consultation tour.
The next public meeting is Monday November 29th in Mildmay at the Carrick Recreation Centre at 7:30 PM.
That’s followed by stops in Ripley, Walkerton, Kincardine and Paisley.
