The Ministry of Education has designated this week as the first annual Experiential Learning Week.
Experiential Learning programs offer students a strong experience and skills foundation for a successful working life.
During the week, students will take in various presentations on different employment sectors.
Bluewater Superintendent of Student Success Jean Stephenson says it is extremely important to properly prepare students for life after high school.
She says a key component to experiential learning in school across Ontario is the Passport to Prosperity Initiative – which promotes the benefits of school-work partnerships.
Stephenson adds there has always been a high uptake for co-op programs and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.
There is especially high participation numbers in the health and wellness and energy sectors.
Stephenson adds a lot of young people are also very focused on careers in the environmental sector.
