We now have a better handle on what is about to be accepted by Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling in the new year.
On Tuesday night — Committee member and South Bruce Peninsula Councillor Wray Lamont told council, residents will be able to recycle such things as ice cream and yogurt containers along with those cookie holders inside product packages just to name a few.
He says the material is known as rigid plastic material.
He says all of the new recyclables will be shipped to a company in Sarnia which will use the material to produce automotive parts.
Lamont says the new items will be added to collection as of January 1st.
Meanwhile, Lamont saluted the residents of South Bruce Peninsula for buying into the recycling and bag tagging programs.
He says since bag tags were introduced, garbage to the landfill has reduced by 500 thousand pounds.
To date this year, recycling has increase by 96 thousand pounds.
Similar details are expected to be announced formally in Saugeen Shores next month.
