Saugeen Shores residents will be able to recycle more come the new year.
Councillor Fred Schildroth — who is a board member of Bruce Area SolId Waste Recycling — says the company has become the focal point of a pilot project.
That means in January, residents will be asked to recycle more than they are now.
Schildroth says they are in the process of retro-fitting some trucks right now so there will be some up-front costs but the company has found a new revenue stream.
He didn’t have many details of what the new items will be but he hints that there will be an increase in the amount and types of plastic that has not been recycled to date.
Schildroth hopes to report back to Saugeen Shores council in about a month with more details on the new program.
