If the local school boards won’t come up with the extra money — than maybe Brockton will.
The municipality wants to know how much it will cost to get the school bus in Riversdale to go back to its original bus stop from last year.
The current bus stop — which involves students crossing a very busy section of Highway 9 — has drawn criticism from parents, the OPP and Brockton Council.
Bagnato says the bus consortium obviously doesn’t know the road well, because if it did — he says the original bus route would never have been dropped.
Bagnato says that section of highway 9 where the students have to cross has claimed lives before and he doesn’t want history to repeat itself.
And Bagnato says winter conditions will only compound the problem.
Bagnato unsuccessfully met with the consortium earlier this month in an attempt to sway their decision.
Bagnato claims the Consortium has put dollars before student safety.
Brockton is not giving up on the issue and plans to continue to lobby the local school boards on the issue.
