Some three thousand shoeboxes filled with Christmas presents will be sent from the south Bruce County area.
Local organizers for Operation Christmas Child are collecting the boxes this weekend.
Spokesperson Wendy Stanley says so far, they have collected 600 more boxes just along the Lake Huron shoreline than they did last year.
She says it looks like they’re on track to hit their target of three thousand, and might even exceed it.
Stanley says shoeboxes are collected across Canada and given to children in 16 third world countries for Christmas.
She says the boxes collected in Saugeen Shores will go to places in Latin America like Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay, as well as to West Africa.
If you haven’t had time to fill a shoebox yet for a little girl or a little boy, collections are still being taken at the Shallow Lake church on Highway 6.
Stanley says you can deliver them there until 3 PM on Sunday.
