In a surprise nomination — the Bruce Children Are Special Foundation are asking you to visit facebook today.
Administrator Cherie Borho tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she received a call from the head office of Pizza Delight to find out they had been the only charity in Ontario nominated for their special charity award.
The award will allow franchisees to nominate a charity in their area that makes their community a better place.
Borho found out the local Walkerton Pizza Delight had nominated the Foundation.
Borho says the charity — 10 in total — with the most votes by December 15th will be awarded the five thousand dollar grant.
You can cast a vote every 24 hours and Borho says as of this morning they are in first place — although only by a few votes.
Borho says the foundation is linked to the Children’s Aid Society and is known for it’s Christmas hamper program, Adopt a Family program and helping families with special needs that they can’t seem to come up with the money to provide — such as dental work.
She adds five thousand dollars could make a huge difference not only in monetary funds but with recognition from this award.
