The 2011 editions of Sandfest and Rock the Beach in Sauble Beach have the moral support of South Bruce Peninsula but no money.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert says councillors decided recently that they could support the concept of the summer events next year but any money from the town would have to be a decision of the incoming council.
Gilbert says the Special Events Coordinator for the Sauble Beach Chamber of Commerce Shane Sargant has already submitted grant applications to the province under the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program.
She says they will inform the province that they support the events but because of a change in council and that budget deliberations cannot held until next year, monetary support will have to wait.
The provincial program calls for municipal financial support in order for the grants to be considered.
It’s not known at this time if the grants have been approved or even considered.
Sandfest would again be a four day event which would include heritage cars, sculptures and music.
Rock the Beach would be a three day event, catering to the young people with all types of music.
Both events draw well over 30 thousand people according to the grant application information.
Officials say they are addressing complaints about the stage location that were made this past summer.
