The Hanover and District Hospital has updated its Cardiac Central Monitoring and Telemetry System.
The new 145 thousand dollar state-of-the-art equipment has been installed in the Emergency Department as well as the Acute Care Unit.
Vice President of Patient Care Services Reta Sproule says the technology will improve the quality of care for patients.
The new telemetry equipment will provide patients with greater freedom and convenience.
Sproule says thanks to portable cardiac monitors, patients can now be mobile while being monitored, which can last 24 to 48 hours.
This is the first time the Hospital has replaced the Telemetry and Central Monitoring system.
Sproule says the original system served the hospital well over the last three decades but could no longer be serviced.
She is confident the new system will also serve the hospital well in the years to come.
