Bruce County Council is sending letters of concern to Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb and Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller about the veterans in the New Veterans Charter.
County Councillor and Arran Elderslie Mayor Ron Oswald presented the motion during committee meetings on Wednesday.
Oswald says he believes Canadians are disgusted with how vets who return home, are treated.
He says those that are wounded or have lost limbs have to fight for their pension and fight for their health care.
Oswald called it embarassing and the letter will call on the two Bruce County MP’s to take into account what is happening to the vets of all wars.
The Conservative government in 2006 replaced life-time pensions to wounded and injured veterans with a combination of lump sum payments and income support.
Veterans, at a recent protest on Parliament Hill, says it results in less money going to soldiers wounded in Afghanistan compared to what veterans from previous wars have been entitled.
Oswald says they pay their respects to the war heroes who did not come home but those that are home, need some help as well.
