Another rabid animal has been found in Grey Bruce — a rabid skunk was found in Georgian Bluffs.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit has received test results that confirm a skunk found in the Jackson area had rabies.
Officials say the animal had no human contact.
This is the ninth rabid animal reported in Grey Bruce in 2010 — and all of them are skunks.
While rabies cases are in decline across Ontario, it remains a concern in Grey Bruce.
20 per cent of the confirmed rabies cases in Ontario last year were from our region.
Rabies is fatal to animals and without timely treatment will cause death in humans.
