The Bluewater District School board has approved a technology master plan budget for 2010-11, worth almost 1.3 million dollars ($1,296,000).
Kincardine/Huron Kinloss trustee Jan Johnstone says the money will improve the technology infrastructure of the board.
She says included in the budget is 266 thousand dollars for archive and disaster recovery.
Johnstone says now that the computer capabilities have been improved within the board, it was time to provide programs that would help recover lost material stored in computers in an emergency.
She also says the computers will now be put to bed if not in use.
Johnstone says the 42-thousnd UPS Refresh, Secondary and Central will automatically shut down computers for the night and re-awaken them as staff return to work.
She says it should say the board money and help improve the environment, using less energy.
