It is a big deal not only for the literary arts of Owen Sound, but for the city in general.
The International Festival of Authors is now making Owen Sound one of its stops.
Owner of the Downtown Bookstore and the organizer of the event Hazel Lyder says the IFOA is where world renowned authors come to host readings and master classes in literature.
The tour has — in the last five years — started to take its tours to stops in London, Hamilton, Barrie and Orillia as well as several other stops.
Lyder says she say they were looking at adding a few more stops this year and applied for Owen Sound to be one of them.
Lyder says now that Owen Sound is on the tour, it will return year after year.
The Owen Sound stop features authors Sandra Birdsell and Charles Foran both from Canada, as well as Andrea Levy from the UK and Miguel Syjuko from the Philippines.
She says the event is almost like a kickoff to the Words Aloud Festival weekend in the city.
The evening will happen at the Owen Sound Library on Wednesday November 3rd at 7:30 PM.
Tickets are avaliable at the Downtown Bookstore.
It will feature readings from all the authors works as well as a wine and cheese with time to meet the authors and get books signed.
Lyder says this is a great opportunity to see authors for what they are — everyday people with extraordinary stories to tell to captivate you page after page.
