It’s time to nominate a young farmer in Ontario who is outstanding in their field.
The Ontario Outstanding Young Farmer program now looking for nominations for young people who are putting agriculture on the map.
Eadee Steele is the Chair of the Ontario Young Farmers Program.
She says they are looking for people under the age of 40 who derive a minimum of two thirds of their gross revenue from farming.
She says they are looking for individuals, couples and partners to take part in this years competition.
Steele says they candidates should have made progress in the agricultural career, are using sound environmental and safety practices, have good financial and management practices and have made contributions to their community.
She says the deadline for applications is December 15th and the winner will be announced during the Ontario regional event in Ajax on March 11th.
Steele says the winner of the Ontario competition then moves on to the national championship which will be held in Manitoba next November.
