A message was sent Monday to Yellow Pages and Bell about their new phone books.
The message says Bruce Grey Owen Sound Conservative MPP Bill Murdoch is “we are still here and we want to keep our heritage — so don’t dump on us.”
Murdoch collected 300 phone books from residents and this morning sent them to be recycled.
He says the new phone books ticked him and some residents off because all residential listings are lumped together — instead of community by community.
Murdoch says every community in the region from Neustadt to Port Elgin are no longer listed individually — and that’s taking away from our identity.
When Murdoch asked Bell and the Yellow Pages what their reasoning was for the change — he heard a study was done and it’s what people wanted.
Murdoch says they obviously didn’t do the study in Bruce and Grey.
Most of the books were signed by residents saying things like “not worth the toilet paper,” or “what jackass came up with this.”
Murdoch dropped the books off at the Owen Sound waste transfer station today before he headed to Queen’s Park.
He add’s the idea originated on a past CFOS Open Line show he did.
