The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office wants everyone to stay safe this Halloween.
The office recommends using battery powered lights in your jack-o’-lanterns instead of candles which are a fire hazard.
But if you are using candles to light your pumpkins, you’re advised to keep cornstalks and bales of hay away from the pumpkins.
The Fire Marshall also reminds you to keep candles, matches and lighters out of children’s reach.
Other safety tips include keeping costumes short so kids don’t trip and fall, carry flashlights, and make sure your kids know how to dial 9-1-1 in case they do run into any trouble.
