It took almost three hours for the election results to be available in Kincardine after a technical glitch.
When the dust cleared Mayor Larry Kraemer was elected to another four year term, defeating challengers Deputy Mayor Laura Haight and Ron Stephens.
However the win over Haight was only 38 votes.
Nevertheless Kraemer says the win is a stamp of approval to work towards bringing post-secondary education to Kincardine.
Meanwhile, Laura Haight is not sure she’ll request a recount of votes.
Haight congratulated the winning candidates in the election and said she just wanted to “catch her breath” before deciding if a recount is necessary.
Anne Eadie has been named the new deputy leader having garnered the most votes of 7 contesting the four councillor at large seats.
Eadie is just finishing up a term of office as councillor in Huron Kinloss but has moved to Kincardine.
Other Councillors-at large include incumbent Ken Craig, along with newcomer Ron Coristine and former councillor Maureen Couture.
Incumbents Guy Anderson and Marsha Leggett lost their seats.
In Ward 1 where two were to be elected, businessperson Jacqueline Faubert topped the polls with over 1550 votes.
Incumbent Mike Leggett received just over 12 hundred votes.
In Ward 2 incumbent Gord Campbell lost out to newcomer Candy Hewitt.
In Ward 3, Randy Roppel was acclaimed to council for a second term.
There was no race for the public or separate school board trustees representing Kincardine as both were acclaimed.
Jan Johnstone is on the public board while Lori Di Castri will be on the separate board.
