A new mayor has been elected in Brockton.
Councillor David Inglis defeated incumbent Charlie Bagnato by just over 19 hundred votes — Inglis had 71 per cent of the votes and Bagnato finished with 29 per cent.

Inglis adds Bagnato ran a good campaign and worked hard, but says the people felt it was time for a change.
Inglis — a retired dairy farmer — has big plans for Brockton including the development of Strategic Plan to help guide the municipality to future economic growth.
Many speculate Bagnato would have done better in the polls if he wasn’t also running in the next Federal election as the Liberal candidate.
Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Rollie Anstett gets to keep his job.
Anstett defeated Councillor Dan Gieruszak by 420 votes with 55 per cent of the vote.
As for the councillor positions — Chris Peabody took the lead with 2564 votes and Charlie Reidl (rye-dle) followed with 2059 votes.
Newcomers Jeff White (1809 votes), Kym Hutcheon (1769 votes) and Anne-Louise Gibbons (1673 votes) will also join the council table.
There were 11 in all vying for the 5 positions.
Voter turn out was at an all time high at 59 per cent, up considerably from the last election at 38 per cent.
The new e-voting system is being credited for the dramatic increase in voter turnout.
The e-voting system was also to blame for some technical problems and an hour extension at the polls.
