Bruce County Public Library is keeping its branches open today.
Director Marzio Apolloni says they’ve been approached by three municipalities — Brockton, South Bruce, and Huron-Kinloss — to stay open on election day.
Apolloni says they’re usually closed, but the six branches in those communities will be open for registered voters to cast their ballots online.
Apolloni says they’re hoping to tear down some barriers and increase voter turnout.
He thinks it’s great the three municipalities have decided to make online voting another option.
Apolloni believes libraries have always had a role in empowering citizens, and hopes they can continue to offer the service in the future.
Library hours will differ at each branch on October 25th.
Huron-Kinloss
Ripley Branch: 4pm – 8pm
Lucknow Branch: 9am – 8pm
Brockton
Walkerton: 4pm – 8pm
Cargill: 9am – 8pm
South Bruce
Teeswater: 4pm – 8pm
Mildmay: 9am – 8pm
