When do you get to say patootie on the radio?
Today — or at least sweet patootie.
It is a fundraiser featuring the group “Sweet Patootie” going on tonight at the Roxy Theatre in Owen Sound.
The concert is to raise funds for the leukemia and lymphoma society of Canada – which helps fund research into various blood cancer.
Vocalist and Violinist and member of Sweet Patootie Sandra Swannell has organized the event in memory of her partner who passed a few years ago from Leukemia.
Swannell says they will welcome to the stage the former members of Tanglefoot who retired from the limelight last year.
Swannell says all the members of the band were very supportive of her and her late partner — Dave — during his illness and then passing.
Another issue to be brought to the spotlight will be the the need for awareness for “One Match” — a national registry for bone marrow matching for many types of blood cancers.
Swannell says while the reason for the fundraiser is serious, the night is to be lots of fun with great music and a phenomenal rapore as members both Sweet Patootie and former members of Tanglefoot join forces.
There is word some people are coming from as far away as England and the United States to see all members together on the stage again.
The concert starts at 8 PM and tickets and information can be gathered by calling the Roxy Box Office. (519-371-2833)
