Get you mom, your daughter and your family together and take a walk for a cause this weekend.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation Mother Daughter Family Walk for Heart is happening Saturday in Harrison Park in Owen Sound.
Organizer Jody Johnson says it is a very important cause as heart disease and stroke strikes women as one of the leading causes of death in our country.
Johnson says seven times more women die of these two diseases every year than breast cancer — and heart disease is many times still seen as a “mans” disease.
Johnson says it is a family walk for even those pushing strollers and walking dogs.
Last year they had about 30 participants and Johnson is hoping to see that number go up this year.
Registration starts at the picnic pavilion in Harrison Park at 9:30 AM and the walk starts at 10:30 AM.
Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners will be on location for the opening ceremonies with the opening stretches being done by Hit the Beat School of Performing Arts.
