The ongoing funding crisis at the Huron-Perth Childrens’ Aid Society now has the attention of the province’s Ombudsman.
Andre Marin says he can look into complants about the CAS now that a provincial supervisor has been appointed by Children and Youth Services Minister Laurel Broten.
Normally the operations of any CAS are outside the Ombudsman’s jurisidiction.
Broten this week appointed Vince Tedesco to supervise the Huron-Perth CAS which prevents staff layoffs.
The Childrens’ Aid Society says it can no longer operate within the province’s funding model and is running a defecit of well over a-million dollars.
Last week the CAS announced plans to close in mid-December.
