The underground fuel tanks at Kincardine Airport are coming above ground.
Kincardine council approved recently to accept a potential cost of just over 146 thousand dollars for the project.
Kincardine Economic Development and Tourism Manager Steve Murray says two existing underground tanks will be removed and any soil repair will be made if necessary.
The tanks will be replaced by a 15 tghousand litre Avgas tank and one 10 thousand litre jet tank and both will be above ground.
The tender goes to Edward Fuels Ltd. of Kincardine for just over 133 thousand dollars.
Murray points out the bid is still over 26 thousand dollars than was budgeted but the extra cash, along with a contingency fund will come the Airport Reserve Fund.
Work should begin in a week or so with completion by the end of the year.
