There’s a municipal election on the horizon, but Alan Barfoot and Dwight Burley can already see beyond that.
Barfoot has been acclaimed as Mayor of Georgian Bluffs and Burley has been acclaimed as Deputy Mayor.
And both are looking ahead to the next term in office since they’ve been acclaimed to the posts they’ve already held for the past four years.
One of the top priorities for Barfoot and Burley right now is the biodigester being constructed in conjunction with the township of Chatsworth.
It’s the first of its kind in the province and testing has already begun.
Barfoot is also interested in seeing through the completion of an official plan for Georgian Bluffs sometime in the first half of 2011.
Burley wants to address issues associated with the Wiarton-Keppel International Airport, of which Georgian Bluffs is a co-owner along with South Bruce Peninsula.
He says maintaining good communication with all neighbouring municipalities is also important.
Barfoot and Burley also both say they look forward to looking with the new council no matter who is elected.
They may also see significant changes at Grey County, given that Georgian Bluffs is the only one of Grey’s nine municipalities guaranteed to return both of its current representatives to county council.
At least five of the 18 current county councillors will not be back.
