In the recent re-configuration of Bluewater Park, there was a loss of seasonal campsite along the waterfront which didn’t sit too well with users.
Now work has been approved by South Bruce Peninsula Council to add nine additional campsites in the park for those campers who like to be there all season.
Manager of Public Works Phil Dwyer says the crunch was he didn’t have money in his budget to “rough in” the sites at a cost of just over 35 thousand dollars.
However Dwyer says money was found in an account that was to be used for park purposes but was not transferred to the park fund.
As a result, work can begin on the water, electrical and sanitary sewer services needed at the nine sites.
Dwyer says it’s important to create the sites because it brings people in for the entire summer season which translates into an economic boost for the South Bruce Peninsula area.
Bluewater Park will continue to offer transient sites as well for weekend visitors and overnighters.
The park, in Wiarton, boasts a small sandy beach on the shores of Georgian Bay.
