The 13-member Bluewater District School board student senate hopes to become more active in board business this year.
Senate spokesperson, Cam Revington of John Diefenbaker School says they hope to becoming more a lobbying group on behalf of students in the system.
Revington says to that end, the group has set up additional meetings outside the regular board meetings to discuss issues that affect them directly.
The goal is to bring reports and subsequent recommendations to the regular board meetings.
The first meeting outside the board gathering will be held on Thursday October 14th, at OSCVI in Owen Sound.
Revington says they plan to move the meetings around to each high school so the senators can get an idea of what each school is about.
