A Dedicated Bench Program has been approved by Saugeen Shores Council.
The program was started many years ago but had been suspended three years ago due to an over abundance of benches along the waterfront and in the public parks.
However, due to high interest from the public, Administration has recommended the program make a return, and council agreed unanimously.
The program is meant to provide the socially conscious citizen to purchase benches that fulfill a need for the general public, such as a place to sit and relax, and provide an opportunity to recognize a loved one or special occasion.
The purchase price for the bench, a dedication plaque, installation and maintenance of the bench will run you 500 dollars, or 425 dollars without the plaque.
Your money does go a long way as the option for renewal comes up every ten years.
You can arrange to purchase a bench at any time during the year, however bench placement happens only in the spring and summer.
March 1st of each year will be the deadline for bench placement.
