The OPP and local police services want to make sure we have a safe Thanksgiving weekend.
Operation Impact isn’t just going on locally, the program is a Canada-wide traffic initiative aimed at saving lives and reducing serious injuries on our roads.
Officers will be focused on impaired and aggressive driving, along with making sure we’re all wearing our seat-belts.
The other part of this national initiative includes an education campaign to raise awareness surrounding recent changes in traffic legislation, including distracted driving laws.
243 people have lost their lives in motor vehicle collisions so far this year on OPP patrolled roads.
The national campaign runs Friday through the Thanksgiving weekend to Monday.
