The municipality of Kincardine is planning on going greener.
They have received a $38,500 grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Green Municipal Fund.
Town CAO John deRosenroll says the municipality will match the grant in order to hire a consultant to help Kincardine go through a sustainability plan.
DeRosenroll says the work will likely be done in 2011.
He says the study will look at ways the community can work smarter, better and more environmentally friendly.
DeRosenroll says hypothetically, they could look at the chlorination of the water system for instance.
Perhaps it can be done with other chemicals in a more environmentally friendly way.
He says it’s those types of things the consultant will be studying.
DeRosenroll says to the average person it’s going to be similar to the strategic planning process last year but this time it’s on the sustainability of the community.
