Workers at a few area grocery stores have accepted a new contract, while others are set to strike.
Employees at nine Zehrs and Real Canadian Superstores plan to walk off the job at midnight tonight after rejecting a tentative deal.
The strike by 18-hundred workers in Essex, Chatham-Kent and Lambton counties comes just as shoppers are preparing for the Thanksgiving weekend.
The workers say they’ve been told the stores will remain open.
But most of the nearly 30-thousand Loblaw employees at other Loblaw’s, Zehrs and Real Canadian Superstores across the province have approved the contract.
