Owen Sound Woodsmen President Randy Jackson is encouraged by the progress the club is making in their pursuit of new sponsors.
Longtime sponsors van Dolder’s Home Team and Berner Contracting informed the club last month that they would not be renewing their agreement with the Ontario Senior Lacrosse Club for 2011.
Needing to acquire about 15 thousand dollars in sponsorship money to replace what van Dolder’s and Berner’s supplied, Jackson states there has been a two thousand dollar sponsorship from the Comfort Inn in Owen Sound.
Furthermore, four Woodsmen sweaters have been sponsored by area businesses and Jackson believes that might be the route the club will follow to acquire the funding they need to operate for 2011.
When the agreement with van Dolder’s and Berner’s was terminated, Jackson felt if equal funding was not arranged from other sources by January 1st, the club would cease operations.
A month after the termination, Jackson admits he’s much more positive about the potential of the Woodsmen going forward.
