Catholic Students with special education needs in Bruce Grey are performing above the provincial level in all areas of the curriculum.
EQAO testing has confirmed these students are doing better than other special needs students across Ontario in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics.
In fact when it comes to writing these special needs students are doing almost as well as non special needs students.
The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board is happy with the results.
Superintendent of Education Catherine Montreuil credits their tracking method to this success.
Special education needs students are tracked monthly so staff can watch for trends and identify what is or isn’t working for students and adjust their instruction accordingly.
A similar strategy will be applied to grade six mathematics.
While there has been impressive growth in the area of reading and writing at the Grade six level, math has been identified as an area of focus.
Grade three students continue to show growth in all areas of testing and gains have been made in grade 9 mathematics EQAO testing.
