A special guest is coming to visit various schools within the Bluewater District School Board.
Superintendent of Student Services Lori Wilder says the Gift of Stories and Reading with David Bouchard is not only for children but for adults as well.
Wilder says Bouchard himself, couldn’t read until age 24, being severly dyslexic.
She says Bouchard will provide strategies and thinking for teachers to use when planning for instruction in literacy.
Bouchard is an award-winning Metis author and will be travelling through the district increasing awareness, understanding and appreciation of First Nation, Metis and Inuit cultures and histories through literacy.
Bouchard will focus on students but is providing two community meetings and on October 7th will be part of a teacher PD day.
His schedule is Monday, October 4th at Bruce Peninsula and Peninsula Shores schools.
On Tuesday — he will be at G.C. Huston in Southampton plus a community meeting in Cape Croker.
On Wednesday — Bouchard is at SDSS in the day and a community meeting at G.C. Huston at night.
Thursday is PD day activities and on Friday, Bouchard is at Walkerton District Seconday School.
